Aspartame instead of sugar in drinks – what’s wrong?

From July 1, 2023, an additional excise tax was introduced on sugar-containing drinks – 7 rubles per 1 liter. Manufacturers Chernogolovka, Multon, PepsiCo and Ochakovo changed the recipe, replacing sugar with E951 (aspartame) to avoid additional costs.

Why is aspartame dangerous? In the body, it breaks down into amino acids (aspartic acid and phenylalanine) and methanol (and that, in turn, into formaldehyde and formic acid). To date, scientists have not proven a direct dependence of the development of cancer on the use of aspartame (research is underway), and the harm of sugar is very obvious.

WHO recognized aspartame as a “possibly carcinogenic substance” and established a safe dose for humans – 40 mg/kg body weight. Considering that the aspartame content in drinks does not exceed 300 mg per can, to exceed the norm you will have to drink 9-12 servings.
