Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which medicines imported by the Circle of Good Foundation into the country are not subject to value added tax (VAT). The document was published on the official portal of legal information.
The foundation helps children with serious and chronic diseases, including rare ones. The “Circle of Good” is allowed to import and transfer to medical institutions drugs specifically for such patients.
Previously, when importing into Russia unregistered drugs needed by specific patients for health reasons, VAT could not be paid. To do this, it was necessary to provide the customs authorities with permission from the Russian Ministry of Health. Only organizations specified in the law “On the Circulation of Medicines” had the right to import such medicines into Russia.
