Carbohydrate quality and breast cancer risk in women

According to the results of the study, a high glycemic index can provoke the development of breast cancer in premenopausal and postmenopausal women.

A meta-analysis of 16 prospective studies found that fiber and whole grain products reduce the risk of female cancer. Dietary fiber alters the gut microbiota, which can affect estrogen metabolism (breast cancer is hormone-dependent).

In addition, whole grains contain phytoestrogens and polyphenols, which have antioxidant properties and the potential to inhibit cell proliferation and angiogenesis.
