Bioiodine

Bioiodine is a biologically active additive containing a form of iodine available for absorption by the human body in the amount of 7-9%, an analogue of natural iodotyrosine contained in products of plant and animal origin.

The technology is based on the method of enzymatic iodination of amino acid residues of tyrosine and histidine in whey proteins of cow’s milk. Next, the product goes through the stage of additional purification using an ultrafiltration membrane, followed by freeze-drying or spray drying of the product.

Bioiodine is a combination of an iodine ion with a tyrosine molecule. Lined up in the structure of an amino acid by the mechanism of electrophilic substitution, iodine forms a strong bond with carbon and acquires an oxidation state of +1 (see figure).
