Standardization of “alternative” products


Росстандарт for the first time launched the process of standardization of products made from vegetable raw materials to replace components of animal origin.

Now in Russia there is no single specialized list of requirements that would regulate production methods and compositions of “alternative” products. At the same time, gaps in the existing legal framework do not allow to fully confirm the quality and safety of plant-based products to the end consumer. Moreover, even a unified approach to determining the names of such products has not been developed.

Representatives of relevant departments (Ministry of Agriculture, Rospotrebnadzor, etc.), experts in the food industry and food technologies, as well as members of business associations and scientific institutions will participate in the work on new technical requirements.
