Improving Memory and Cognitive Function with Quinoa

Chinese scientists have identified the anti-aging properties of the polysaccharide contained in quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd) associated with antioxidant activity. Using an in vitro study, the antiradical activity of the polysaccharide was established, and the in vivo method on laboratory mice made it possible to track the decrease in the aging rate of a living organism.

To determine spatial learning and memorization ability, the WMW test was used, which consists in teaching mice orientation in a water-filled maze (a rescue platform is located in the center of the northeast quadrant). The study showed a reduction in platform entry time in mice given quinoa extract.
