On the introduction of a temporary ban on the export of amino acids from the Russian Federation

The government has approved a draft order of the Ministry of Agriculture to ban the export of amino acids from Russia for a period of six months. The temporary ban on export is effective from July 1.

“To establish for a period of 6 months a temporary ban on the export of L-lysine sulfate, L-lysine monohydrochloride (code 2922 41 000 0 HS of the EAEU) and DL-methionine (code 2930 40 900 0 HS of the EAEU) from the Russian Federation,” the document says. The temporary ban does not apply to amino acids exported for international humanitarian assistance or as part of international transit traffic.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, 119.4 thousand tons of L-lysine sulfate (60.8 thousand tons in terms of L-lysine monohydrochloride) were produced in Russia last year – about 52% of the market demand. The volume of production of DL-methionine was 25 thousand tons with an estimated demand of about 60 thousand tons.
