Digital food composition database platform


Today, in Federal Research Center of Food Systems name of V.M. Gorbatov Russian Academy of Sciences held a strategic session on the creation of a unified database on the nutritional value of food products. The following questions were brought up for discussion:

• Formalization of data by class
• Types of information sources for the platform
• Platform development issues
• Directions of use of the database
• Barriers affecting digitalization and development of information systems

The meeting was attended by representatives of government agencies, food producers and academics. During the discussion, the key factors in the development of the digital platform and the most important aspects of its structure were identified.

This platform should become the basis for calculating rations, food menus, recipes for food products and dietary supplements. This means that users of the platform can be both consumers and nutritionists / nutritionists, as well as manufacturers
