“This direction is just beginning to develop”: the expert answers some questions about the special food market

There are many players in the specialized food market. The industry, as a living organism, is constantly developing and thinking, and we continue to share different knowledge and opinions.

A little behind the scenes of the industry. Anastasia Bondarenko, Marketing Director of the Innovanta Group of Companies, answered SuperFood several questions about the development of the segment.

– Anastasia, how promising is the special food market in terms of technology: how often is new equipment introduced into it?

– In principle, there are only a few manufacturers of specialized food products. This is due to the imperfection of regulatory regulation, with some gaps, because there are obstacles: complicated and long state registration, the need for clinical trials. Therefore, there are few such manufacturers. There is probably no need to talk about some kind of high-tech equipment, because there are few expertise, few specialists. This direction is just beginning to develop.

– Let’s say I am a buyer of special food – be it for children, medical or other specialized. Is it possible to somehow recognize the product of an unscrupulous manufacturer? Maybe there is some kind of “evidence”? For example, something in the composition or on the packaging would indicate that all safe production conditions were not met. Or is it only on the conscience of food creators?

– With regard to baby food, it is unlikely that this is a substandard product, because fairly high quality standards are applied to both raw materials and production. Those who go into the production of baby food already understand in advance that this is a very responsible direction.

The requirements for the production of baby food for children under one year old are the most severe, the most serious; from 1 to 3 years old, they are slightly relaxed, and for children from 3 years old and older – they coincide with the requirements for creating nutrition for adults.

Personally, I have not met any unscrupulous manufacturers. But how the products are stored and distributed is extremely important.

– What factors, in your opinion, hinder the development of the market and the production of special food in Russia?

– In our country, there is a lack of a regulator as such. Control over the norms of medical nutrition is not carried out, public education activities are not carried out, and the population considers some products to be dietary supplements.

The expert named the conditions that make it possible to make special food products available. Among them are the use of domestic raw materials and a fair, not overpriced product price.
