The EFKO company plans to produce plant-based milk under the Hi brand. First of all, the project “Food of the Future” will present to the consumer milk based on soy protein, and in the future it is planned to use other crops as raw materials, such as oats, sunflower, flax and buckwheat.
In the fall of 2021, EFKO will begin mass production of vegetable milk at a production site in the Belgorod region, where construction work is currently underway. The volume of production will amount to one thousand tons per month, and investments, primarily invested in the organization of production, development and marketing, according to the company’s website, are estimated at approximately 600 million rubles.
At the moment, “EFKO” conducts marketing research to assess the potential of the product. Some trial batches of Hi brand plant milk were sold in Moscow and some retail outlets in the regions to determine customer demand. The company plans to sell alternative milk at the price of ordinary milk (no more than 70 rubles per liter in retail), while on average, different manufacturers have such products more expensive than traditional milk.
“This is due to the fact that we are the largest processor of domestic non-GMO soybeans. We have our own raw material base, and we process 800 thousand tons per year “, – comments the executive director of EFKO Sergey Ivanov.
