How nutritional knowledge has evolved over 125 years: NUTRICIA

At the international virtual congress “The Impact of Specialized Nutrition on Health in a New Reality” (May 21-22), organized by Nutricia, in addition to lectures, a round table was held on the topic “Nutrition education over the past 125 years.”

Professors – world experts in the field of nutrition from different countries – discussed the current problems of the specialized nutrition industry. More precisely, one of the main problems is education in the field of dietetics.
Experts noted that as dietetics developed as a science, not enough attention was paid to clinical nutrition. And nutritional support for the patient is something that can prolong life and speed up the process of recovery and rehabilitation.
Therefore, the task of experts in the field of nutritional science was to create educational programs – not only for students, but also for practicing specialists as postgraduate education and advanced training.
“It is unacceptable for healthcare professionals to receive training using various sources on the Internet. The Internet contains a large array of very different information, and it is very difficult to understand it, ”one of the professors said at the conference. Therefore, according to experts, it is important to continuously disseminate reliable knowledge around the world, which is now possible due to digital technologies.
Moreover, not only doctors, but also consumers and patients need to gain knowledge in order to realize the importance of rational nutrition and nutritional support. Experts argued that proper nutrition before pregnancy, before the conception of a child and after his birth is the key to the health of generations. That is, you need to take care of your diet all your life.
For healthcare professionals, the company offered an innovative solution for the continuing education of doctors. The Danone Nutricia Campus opens in June 2021, an open science education platform for healthcare professionals.
The platform provides access to the latest scientific advances in nutrition and health and connects experts from around the world, sparking discussions on the development of the field of nutrition.
